Here’s what Boston College head coach Bill O’Brien had to say after the loss at Louisville

The Boston College Eagles (4-4, 1-3 ACC) football team lost their third game in a row to the Louisville Cardinals (5-3, 3-2 ACC) on Friday night, 31-27.

After the game, Eagles head coach Bill O’Brien said he was disappointed.

Below is a transcript of everything O’Brien had to say.

O’BRIEN: I don’t have anything. Need to play a better game. I don’t know, it’s not enough to train him.

Q: Coach, you had three timeouts before halftime, 1:17 on the clock, and you’re done. Any reason?

O’BRIEN: We were up 20-7, just felt like we were in good shape. Yeah, hindsight is 20/20, you do something else, but it seemed like a fair question, right then, it felt like 20-7 going into halftime, it’s not like we had a fight going on. The ball was in our hands 25.

Q: Comment on Louisville’s quarterback’s ability to rally in the second half.

O’BRIEN: Great job. A great player. Good coaching staff, coached us. I need to do better, I didn’t do a good job tonight.

Q: Coach, the boys were outscored 31-7 after going up 20. Talk about how to maintain that stability…

O’BRIEN: Tough. No, I can’t do that. Can’t play 60 minutes. They can’t be trained enough to play 60 minutes, they need to be trained much better. You have to look at the tape and figure out how to fix it. Terrible.

Q: Coach, I know it’s not a full 60 minutes, but in the first half, just coming out, what did he open up in the first half, but in that second, he got away a little bit?

O’BRIEN: What opened us up in the first half was a couple of gadget plays and we didn’t do anything in the first half. It was beautifully even. They turned the ball over, we didn’t. So we did some good things in the first half, but it didn’t happen, we didn’t do much offensively tonight.

Q: I know you’re more focused on results, but can you talk about Q’s (Quintayvious Hutchins) contribution in the first half?

O’BRIEN: Yeah, he played well. He blocked, I think, a forced fight. He did a good job. He played well tonight. I don’t know what he did in the second half, but I think he played well.
