No criminal charges will be filed in the shooting death of a Bessemer man at a Birmingham business last month.
Tremaine Javan Long, 37 On September 20, he was shot and killed inside the Third Avenue Package Store.
Birmingham police Sgt. LaQuitta Wade said detectives presented their evidence in the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office on Monday, which found the killing justified.
Long’s death is the 10th homicide to be solved in Birmingham this year.
The shooting happened around 12:40 a.m. that Friday at a business in the 1500 block of West Third Avenue.
According to police, Long and another man got into a physical fight, which led to shots being fired.
The shooter’s name is not being released because no charges are pending.
