RICHMOND, Wash. – Richmond mayoral candidate Michelle Mosby sent her supporters home Tuesday night after a long day, but she’s optimistic the race will still go her way.
Mosby entered the race to become Richmond’s first elected female mayor.
A former city council member and business owner, Mosby also runs a nonprofit that helps formerly incarcerated people re-enter society.
He was the only candidate to run for mayor in 2016 before losing to incumbent Mayor Levar Stoney.
Mosby campaigned to improve affordable housing, strengthen city services and improve public safety for Richmond. He told CBS 6 he believes the city needs a mayor with experience.
“We had five candidates but it was a race between me and Danny Avula. So I think what I believed in paid off tonight,” Mosby said. “So I’m not going to see how it goes in the second round because I think one of us is going to be the winner tonight.”
Mosby said he’s not fired and still believes he can win the mayoral race.
