Did the Harris campaign intentionally mislead Beyonce to perform at the Houston rally?

The media, which hyped Vice President Harris’ Friday campaign rally with Beyoncé as a free concert, is now facing backlash — and questions are being raised about whether the Harris campaign intentionally misled the public and the press to gain publicity and attention.

The event and Beyoncé’s endorsement were supposed to be preparations for the Harris campaign. In contrast, Ms. Harris faced a barrage of speeches, while Republicans called Beyoncé’s brief speech and no musical performance offensive.

A winning issue for Democrats was a rally for women’s reproductive freedom that drew nearly 30,000 people. The Houston-born singer’s hit song “Freedom” has been Harris-Waltz’s campaign anthem for months.

USA Today It promoted the event with a live countdown to the singer’s upcoming performance, titled “Watch Live: Beyoncé Returns to Houston to Perform at the Kamala Harris Rally.”

NPR Also billed the event as a Beyoncé performance, calling it “BeyHive meets KHive.” MSNBC reported that a “source” confirmed the singer would perform. Vanity Fair reported that the superstar was expected to sing “Freedom,” and when they asked the Harris campaign for confirmation, the campaign said, “We can’t confirm.”

“However, they did not deny it,” the article said.

After speaking for three minutes, Beyoncé asked the audience to vote. It was then that the crowd roared.

Ms. Harris stood alone at the podium and tried to drown out the noise, but unlike Beyoncé on her hit album, she couldn’t make lemonade out of lemons.

“They hurt everybody. They thought he was going to perform,” President Trump said at a rally in Michigan. “They have to use people to attract people.”

One radio show host called the incident Beyoncé-Gate. Several positive social media accounts are also trying to amplify the story. “She can’t even promise her followers with a Beyoncé performance, but yeah, she’s completely closing the door,” he said. Sent to X site.

“So what? It’s as important as how many weapons the North Koreans have stockpiled in the DMZ right now,” Democratic Party strategist Hank Scheinkopf told the Sun. “Celebrity endorsers create excitement. They captured some part of the electorate. They are not decisive.”

Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z performed for Hillary Clinton in 2016. Trump was often mocked in 2016 for his lack of celebrity endorsements. Heart went to the land, broke the blue wall and won.

Beyoncé also performed at President Obama’s inaugural ball. Did the Harris campaign expect him to release at least one tune? Is it fantasy or a calculated strategy?

The raucous performance will be compared to the humorous speaker on the final night of the Democratic National Convention, which many predict will be Beyoncé or Taylor Swift. The speaker was former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta. For those who were glued to the television for hours to watch the star-studded musical performance and political speeches, it was a setback. However, it was also a smart strategy on the part of the Democrats.

The Harris campaign did not return the Sun’s request for comment.

Kathleen Jamieson, a professor of political communication at the University of Pennsylvania, argues that voting for the Sun newspaper has little effect on voters. He said a comedian who called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage” at Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally on Sunday could have a bigger impact on Trump’s support among Latinos, as Democrats immediately deployed celebrities to target those voters with incriminating videos and endorsements. Ms. Harris.

“The question is what it brings to other media,” says Ms. Jamieson. “It’s important that it reaches an audience that wouldn’t otherwise hear it.”

Ms. Jamison said Harris’ potential constituents would not engage with right-wing accounts trying to hype the Beyoncé story. Despite being Latino, Puerto Rico follows the social media accounts of Bud Bunny, Jennifer Lopez and other celebrities following the comments in support of Ms. Harris.

“That’s why Bad Bunny is important. Beyoncé was praised for not performing at the Harris Rally, she says, “it doesn’t matter.”
