Passengers affected by the temporary closure of the Orange Line, which operates Saturday through Friday, can access free Bluebikes unlock codes sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.

According to WBZ reportingnon-members get five free bike unlocks for pedal bikes and e-bikes. However, a per-minute fee still applies to e-bikes. Riders can access the unlock using the code MBTAORANGE26 in the rewards section of the Bluebikes app.

Offer good on the Bluebike system, which includes Arlington, Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Newton, Revere, Salem, Somerville and Watertown.

Codes are only valid during the upcoming Orange Line closure between October 26th and November 1st.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts is the title sponsor of Bluebikes, a bicycle-based public transportation company. The system is owned by 13 municipalities in eastern Massachusetts and is jointly operated by Boston, Cambridge, Everett, Somerville and Brookline. Bluebikes has a contract with Lyft.
